Goodwill Genealogists are the  “Secret Santas” or “amigo secreto” of genealogy.

Our mission is to digitize family history materials, making them more widely available to family historians.  We seek out family bibles, photographs, genealogies, letters, and other documents that contain information that might otherwise be lost.  Once digitized, we try to reunite the original sources to families and genealogical societies.

If you find digitized artifacts here, you can copy the pages directly from the posts in the Family Pages .  In some instances, the originals are available to family members.  Contact us to learn more  info@goodwillgenealogists.com.

What do we ask if you copy and share materials from our collections?

  • Please include us in your source citation
  • Absolutely do not use the information for commercial purposes
  • Leave a comment so we know you’ve been here. We’re wild about making a match!
  • Be inspired by the GG spirit and join us!

This is such a great idea! I’ve had the experience myself (I was the giver) and it felt really wonderful to find a descendant via Ancestry.com and send her the originals of the ancestor’s book notes!
Thanks so much for doing this!

    • Thank you! You’re right, it is a terrific feeling to be the giver! In some ways, being a genealogist is the ultimate social networker–we work in the present to touch the past and connect to the future.

If you’d like to share your story about being a giver, you can add it by clicking on the “Contribute” tab.
